Unusual Things To Do in Tokyo
Luckily I have a lot of friends who live in Japan, so I get to experience all of the unusual things to do in Tokyo. The fetish parties are without a doubt the most unusual and definitely an experience you won’t find anywhere else in the world. It is interesting to see the culture during the day which is so private and then everything change at night. Feel free to comment for any other travel tips!
Torture Garden Party
I was literally sitting in a conveyor belt sushi joint and met the owner of this company. I got invited to their anniversary party and it was the craziest thing I have ever experienced in my life. There were people dressed in fetish costumes and artistic acts going on in the bar. They host costume parties all over the city. Check out their website for future events here.
Go to Jail
This is a themed lounge in Roppongi where you can pay someone to tie you up and pour hot wax on you. It is a little touristy, but a lot of locals and salarymen like to go there after a long day of work. Even if you don’t get tied up, it is definitely interesting to see.
Who wouldn’t want to dress like a Mario Brothers character and pretend you are in the Mario Kart video game for a day? You can do that in Akihabara. All you need is an international drivers license and a willingness to do the unusual. You basically choose a timeframe and drive go karts around the city! Book your go kart ahead of time here.
Just when you thought you saw the most unusual things to do in Tokyo, you find out there is a place in the world that exists where monkeys serve you dinner. That would be at Kayabukiya Tavern which is about an hour and a half outside of Tokyo. It is just a train ride away, and definitely worth the journey there.
